A Quick Note About "Units"

Many medi-spas advertise cheap prices "per unit." We are transparent about how much neuromodulator you are getting. When we say "unit," we are referring to the actual unit of neuromodulator received. A standard Botox vial, for example, has 100 units of Botox in it. We reconstitute this (add carrier fluid to the powder), just like everyone else, but unlike many medi-spas, when we say you are getting "30 units" you are receiving 30% of the Botox in that 100 unit vial.

Many medi-spas will advertise a low $ "per unit," but a lot of times they are referring to their own arbitrary volume. How much Botox or Dysport is in that "unit?" It may only have a fraction of actual neuromodulator in it. In our case, if we say you are getting 1 unit of Botox, you are receiving exactly 1% of a 100 unit vial. At some medi-spas, you may be receiving a fraction of that.

Neuromodulators (Botox)

Neuromodulators (Botox, etc.) are one of the most commonly utilized treatments in cosmetic dermatology. They are very effective for eliminating moderate to severe frown lines and wrinkles. At Ecker Dermatology, "neuromodulators" are both affordable and professionally performed. We have had significant training in optimally performing the injections as well as several years experience performing them. Botox treatments usually last 3 months. Many patients prefer to be treated quarterly to maintain results.

Fillers

Fillers are effective in replacing lost volume of the face and providing scaffolding onto which new collagen can form. The most common fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. These have been studied extensively and have been proven to be very safe. The results are often remarkable. Botox can be combined with filler treatments to produce an even more pleasing effect. Although there are many exceptions, Botox is utilized for the upper face and fillers are for the lower face. Results can last 9 months or longer.

What is Broad Spectrum Light?
Also known as a photofacial, or photorejuvenation in general for any area of the body, broad spectrum light is a quick energy based treatment utilizing specialized filters and light to penetrate deep into the skin layers. Photorejuvenation produced by this treatment causes collagen and blood vessels beneath the epidermis (outer layer of skin) to constrict. This reduces redness and age lines and helps minimize the signs of aging.

What Is a Broad Spectrum Light Treatment Like?
You will be provided with protective eyewear before treatment to protect your eyes from bright flashes of light. A cool gel may be applied to the treatment area to help cool the epidermis and to lubricate the handpiece used in performing the procedure. Our facial rejuvenation expert will apply brief pulses of light to the skin in a procedure that can take from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the extent of treatment needed in your case. Most patients experience very little discomfort during the procedure. You will feel a warm sensation and may feel a light "snap" with the pulses of light. Ice rollers may be applied to soothe the skin following treatment.

Microneedling

Peels

Peels can be very effective for eliminating sun spots, age spots, melasma, fine wrinkles, blemishes, and acne scars. They work by eliminating the top layers of your skin, which can be damaged. The peel process triggers the production of new collagen and elastin and, as a result, erases fine lines and wrinkles, evens out skin discoloration, and improves skin texture. There are several different kinds of peels. Two more commonly utilized ones (superficial to medium depth peels) include glycolic, TCA, and salicylic acid peels. They are typically performed every 2-4 weeks until the desired results are achieved (typically 4-6 treatments).
